Rapid fixation and healing with ActivaPin™

When the fractured distal forearm needs an operative treatment, rapid functional recovery is achievable without a removal operation with the bioabsorbable ActivaPin™. Fast to insert and stable also during the recovery.

Distal radius fracture fixation technique with ActivaPin™ by Dr. Marcell Varga and Dr. Tamás Kassai

This is a new and modified technique from the short double elastic nailing technique published in Medicine (Dr. Varga et al., 2017).

This technique avoids the physis and uses the unique strength of ActivaPin™ by allowing the surgeon to modify the strong implant according to the required anatomical angle. The main advantage of this technique is easy short operation time, patient´s early mobilization and stable fixation. Additionally, the patient avoids the second operation, implant removal. Watch the Specialist Webinar and operational video where Dr. Marcell Varga presents the technique for distal forearm fractures.

Recommended implant for the technique is ActivaPin™ 3.2 x 70mm or ActivaPin™ 2.7 x 70mm. Remember to cut the implant to the desired length to avoid any protruding implant parts from the bone.

Why this solution?

The Gold standard in operative treatment for the indication worldwide is K-wiring and plaster cast. However, the K-wire synthesis is not stable enough and delays the return to everyday life. The possibility to fast postoperative mobilization without unnecessary secondary operations is a tremendous value for the patient and the family.
