RemeOs™

Bringing metallic properties to the bioimplant world

The company´s next-generation patented bioresorbable metal, RemeOs™, is based on naturally occurring essential metals in the human body: magnesium, zinc, and calcium (Mg alloy with a nominal content of Ca 0.55 w-% and Zn 0.45 w-%). The material contains no rare-earth elements (REE) foreign to the human body like Yttrium, Gadolinium, Neodymium, or any other REE.

Advantages of absorbable implants

Traditional metallic orthopedic implants must often be removed due to long-term adverse effects. Removal surgery increases the patient’s discomfort and the risk of complications. RemeOs™ implants eliminate the need for implant removal. Stress shielding associated with traditional metal implants may result in bone atrophy and osteolysis. RemeOs™ implant absorbs into bone, assisting in the healing process. Due to implant absorption, the risks of any implant-related long-term complications will be eliminated.

Bringing metallic properties to the bioimplant world

RemeOs™ brings metallic properties – high strength, rigidity, and hardness, to the bioimplant world. The strength retention of RemeOs™ implants is tailored to match bone healing. The patented RemeOs™ material brings implants to the orthopedic world with the handling and feel of traditional metal implants combined with absorbable properties. The same surgical techniques can be used for RemeOs™ products as for conventional metal implants – the only difference is that removal operations are unnecessary. RemeOs™ implants have demonstrated their safety and effectiveness through excellent clinical results.

Osteopromotive properties – ossification in 6 weeks

Calcium phosphates (e.g., HA) form on the surface of RemeOs™ implants, causing a beneficial bioactive response with bone tissue. RemeOs™ implants absorb through oxidation, forming Magnesium-, Calcium- and Zinc-minerals. RemeOs™ has demonstrated osteopromotive properties. Studies have shown that with 90% of patients, full ossification was achieved with RemeOs™ implants within 6 weeks, and by 12 weeks, all patients had complete fracture consolidation.

RemeOs™ implants have the same radio-opacity as cortical bone and are MR-conditional in given conditions.
